At The Heartbeat Clinic, we provide the latest echocardiography services to help diagnose heart conditions. Our professional and competent cardiologists, along with our well-equipped facilities, offer you thorough assessments of the structure and function of your heart, assisting you in maintaining good cardiovascular health.
Echocardiography, also known as an echo or cardiac ultrasound, is a non-invasive imaging technique that uses sound waves to capture detailed images of the heart. This test helps in understanding the shape, functionality, and blood circulation within the heart. Echocardiography is widely employed for diagnosing heart diseases, assessing responses to treatments, and aiding in medical decision-making.
Echocardiography is performed to:
Diagnose Heart Conditions: Identify conditions affecting the heart, including valvular diseases, congenital heart defects, ventricular dysfunction, and pericardial diseases.
Evaluate Symptoms: Investigate signs and symptoms such as chest pain, difficulty breathing, palpitations, and persistent fatigue, which could indicate cardiac issues.
Assess Heart Function:
Monitor Treatment Progress:
The most common type, where an ultrasound transducer is placed on your chest to capture images of the heart.
Involves the insertion of a specialized probe into the esophagus to obtain more detailed images of the heart, particularly its posterior structures.
Combines an echocardiogram with a stress test (exercise or medication-induced) to evaluate how the heart functions under stress.
Uses Doppler signals to assess the speed and direction of blood flow through the heart, helping detect valvular diseases and cardiac muscle dysfunction.
No specific pre-procedure preparation is necessary for routine transthoracic echocardiography. However, for a transesophageal echocardiogram, you might be required to avoid eating or drinking anything before the test.
For TTE:
For TEE:
The procedure may require 40 to 60 minutes, depending on the complexity of the analysis.
While the test is generally non-invasive, you may experience some pressure from the ultrasound probe during the test. During a stress echo, you may exercise or be given medication to make your heart beat faster; images are captured before and after the stress.
Most people can return to normal activities after the procedure. Your doctor will review the images, explain the echocardiogram results to you, and suggest further action based on the report.
Echocardiography is a safe test with minimal risks. Some people may experience mild discomfort from the ultrasound probe or, in the case of TEE, from the endoscope. However, these symptoms are usually temporary and resolve quickly.
The results of an echocardiogram provide comprehensive information about your heart’s structure and function, helping to:
Diagnose conditions such as heart valve disease, congenital anomalies, and dysfunction of the heart chambers.
Determine the heart’s pumping ability, the presence of a pericardial effusion, and the size and wall thickness of the heart.
Advise on medical treatment, diet, and exercise, or whether surgery is necessary.

Ari Frank2024-07-08Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. First off I would like to say that the wait time can be long sometimes, but the best is worth the wait. Dr. Suleman is an amazing doctor and his staff most definitely show his same mannerisms. My nurse Leraido (sorry for butchering your name) was amazing and kind. You will wait forever to see him so plan on being there the whole day but you will get the most comprehensive testing and help. More so than anyone else I've ever seen. Finally got a diagnosis after two years of specialists and GPs dismissing me. He is worth the wait. Nicole Borgerding2023-01-20Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Dr. Suleman and his staff are amazing. Is he the "sit you down and hug you" type, no. Is he highly knowledge and informative in what he does, more than I could ever describe in words - YES! He provided resources for me to educate myself further and presented all of my options, before WE figured out the best solution for ME. As someone who's seen well over 15 specialists this year, throughout a nightmare diagnostics journey, he is by far the most respected and favored of any of them. Couldn't recommend him more. Update: Answers! It's been a few months since I first posted and I wanted to stress that although it may feel like a lot (I did a number of tests over the last three months) I am finally getting answers. Dr. Suleman took my pain and frustration and didn't tell me I was crazy or just do a basic check up. I can see why I was referred to him. The office in McKinney is easy to locate with lots of parking. Josue Mercado2022-07-11Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Dr. Suleman is one of the very few doctors I trust and truly admire for his knowledge for POTS. I developed POTS after Covid and he did very extensive testing which no other doctor wanted to do at first. His straightforward and I personally recommend him for any dysautonomia issue! All testing is in his office besides labs, which is very convenient since you are not having to go to multiple places. I trust Dr. Suleman so much that I have referred many people to his practice from all over the world. I highly recommend him!
